What episode does Luffy fight Katakuri in “One Piece”

Luffy will start his battle in episode 852 with Katakuri. In episode 871 the battle will end

I really like this moment, not only because Luffy defeats the Yonko for the first time, but also because the audience finds in Katakuri a villain who deserves respect. Katakuri lives by his own principles.

When Flambe interferes in their 1v1 fight, Katakuri gets annoyed and stabs himself, so he’s just as injured as Luffy.

Seeing a tiny Luffy take on a giant Katakuri is exciting in itself. Luffy really increases his strength in this fight.

This is the first time we’re introduced to advanced Observation Haki, the ability to see a few seconds into the future.

The Haki Clash shows us the power of Conqueror, Armament, as well as Observation Haki – we even see Luffy transform into a new Gear Fourth form called Snakebite.

Luffy fights for himself, his ideologies and ambitions, and not for anyone else.

At the very end, Katakuri approaches him and asks if he will return to fight Big Mom head to head, to which Luffy replies that he will definitely return because defeating the Yonko is the only way to become the Pirate King.

The battle

Katakuri is surprised that Luffy has returned to the battlefield. He says that if Luffy ran away, it wouldn’t be a disgrace since his opponent is Katakuri, and then asks if Luffy decided it was better to die than live in disgrace or if he realized the difference between their powers and decided to become a subordinate Big Mom Pirates . Luffy in turn uses “Gomu Gomu no Gatling” and strengthens his Armament Haki attack , after which he states that he has come to defeat the Candy General, which Katakuri refuses and dodges Luffy’s attacks.

The snipers tried to shoot at Luffy, but he was moving too fast. Due to the fact that they could not hit the enemy in any way, Charlotte Flampe pierced one of them with a fork. Still admiring his older brother Katakuri, Flampe watches his fight with Luffy. Luffy gets up off the floor, but Katakuri quickly uses “Muso Donuts”. Luffy manages to dodge and tries to kick his opponent, but he dodges and appears behind Luffy to create mochi donuts again. Straw Hat tries to hit Katakuri, but he gets ahead of him and uses his version of Luffy’s Gatling, and after not completing the previous attack, throws Luffy into the wall, and after asking why Luffy’s eyes didn’t turn black, seals his mochi. However, Luffy breaks through the other side of the wall, and Katakuri says that falling is embarrassing in itself.

Anticipating Luffy’s moves, Katakuri hits him on the head and then on the shoulders to prevent him from getting up and attacking. Katakuri says that as soon as Straw Hat tries to strike with his left hand, he hits him on the left shoulder, and also with the right side, and should really annoy Luffy. Remembering Rayleigh’s words , Luffy manages to calm down. He counters Katakuri’s massive strike, activating Gear Third and charging the Armament Haki strike. However, the Candy General kicks Luffy in the face with a mochi, noting that Luffy does indeed get a brief glimpse into the future.. He tells his opponent not to even try to get up, as he knows about Luffy’s meeting at 1:00 am at Cacao Island and that the Katakuri siblings are waiting for him there. Ignoring Katakuri’s words, Luffy says that he will get out of the Mirro-World and beat Katakuri as his Nakama believe in him.

Realizing that Luffy will soon reach his level, Katakuri orders him not to rise. Flampe shoots a bullet at Luffy’s leg. Katakuri predicts the future and uses “Mochi Tsuki” to pierce the left side of his body and Luffy screams in pain, which makes Flampe laugh.

Katakuri asks Luffy what just happened and attacks Luffy again with Mogura. Luffy charges his arms with Armament Haki to defend against Katakuri’s kick, but Katakuri attacks the opponent with a strong kick and throws Luffy into the Mirror World’s wall again. Katakuri becomes very angry at Luffy for losing his guard, and then quickly attacks Luffy with a Mogura, but he dodges all of the blows. Katakuri manages to injure Luffy again with Muso Donuts . The Candy General then attacks Luffy with his “Mochi Ginchaku” , delivering quick blows to him. He doesn’t understand what happened to Luffy as he just started to respect him. As the Straw Hat lies on the ground, he reminisces about his training with Rayleigh, where he taught him how to use Observation Haki, and gets back on his feet.

Flampa doesn’t like Luffy getting back on his feet, and she tries to shoot him with a sweet needle again. Luffy dodges with Lookout Haki, to which Flampe is surprised as her needle is completely silent. Although Luffy managed to dodge, he still fell. Flampe and her subordinates begin to laugh as the “monkey’s” legs are shaking like a newborn fawn, thereby attracting Katakuri’s attention. He walks towards Flampe, realizing that she was the one who harmed Luffy with her Silent Needle. As Luffy tries to stand up again, Flampe, along with her subordinates, continue to laugh at him. Not realizing what’s funny, Katakuri stabs himself with Mogura, inflicting the same wound on himself that he inflicted on his opponent.

Katakuri removes her scarf, revealing her face to Flampe and her men, and orders her little sister to never interfere in a man’s duel again. He also told her that if she was going to make fun of Luffy, then she should do the same to him. Flampe, in turn, begins to insult his brother and wants to show his true face to the entire fan club. Katakuri returns to fight Luffy, apologizing for not being able to spot Flampe’s needle, but Luffy replies that there is no such thing as justice during a pirate duel. They both agree that their watchers are too noisy and they use Haoshoku Haki to knock out Flampe and her subordinates.

Katakuri takes off his jacket and tells Luffy that he no longer sees him as someone below his level. Luffy in turn declares that he will defeat Katakuri.

Luffy remembers his training with Rayleigh again and easily dodges Katakuri’s subsequent attacks. Katakuri uses “Mochi Ginchaku” , punching Luffy in the face, but using Armament Haki Luffy fights off the opponent’s subsequent blows despite all the pain. Katakuri uses “Yaki Mochi” to punch Luffy through the wall of the Mirror World. After Katakuri regained his arm from the previous attack, Luffy flies towards Katakuri, punching him in the face. Katakuri then kicks Luffy in the face with his mochi hand, and then with his foot. Luffy is barely on his feet. Before Katakuri finishes the question of whether Luffy will surrender, he already receives an answer. The Candy General tells Luffy to get up and fight. Straw Hat decides to end the fight and activates his new Gear Fourth form., “Snake Man” .

Fight on an equal footing

Upon seeing Luffy’s new Gear Fourth form, Katakuri was slightly surprised, as his opponent looked a little different in this form. Confirming this and adding that he is much faster in this form, Luffy tries to hit Katakuri with great speed by extending his fist towards him and charging his Armament Haki, but the opponent dodges. Luffy repeats his attack and manages to hit Katakuri. Luffy then kicks again, but this time Katakuri reacts and defends himself from Luffy’s attack, but is blown away nonetheless.

Katakuri notices Luffy about to attack from the other side, then gets to his feet. As the Straw Hat prepares to attack Katakuri again, Katakuri doesn’t understand what just happened as he thought he dodged. Katakuri realizes that this time Luffy’s kick will make a “square” to hit him and dodges again. However, Luffy says it’s useless as his arm not only stretches but also increases speed, after which he uses “Gomu Gomu no Jet Culverin” and successfully sends Katakuri into the wall.

Katakuri managed to land on his feet. Luffy tries to hit Katakuri with great speed, but he dodges and turns his entire body into mochi and quickly spins towards Luffy in the shape of a doughnut. When Katakuri was close to his opponent, he reverted to his normal form and slammed his enlarged forearm covered in mochi and charged with Armament Haki at Luffy, dealing massive damage to Luffy, calling the attack “Zan Giri Mochi ” . Due to the stickiness of the mochi, Luffy is unable to get away from Katakuri, after which he spins his arm and sends it into the ground with great force and speed, punching a huge hole in the floor of the Mirror World.
